Living relatives and probate research

Information for beneficiaries and relatives

Every year many people die without leaving a will and their estates will pass to close relatives (beneficiaries). However, occasionally the deceased may have lost contact with their family and it can therefore be difficult to trace his or her relations. At YWA we trace next-of-kin, specialising in cases which have associations with Wales.

We act as agents on behalf of potential beneficiaries to pursue their claim of a share of a deceased's person's estate. Our role includes research, preparing and documenting claims and submitting those claims to the relevant solicitor. Many cases can be complex and the deceased may have died many years ago – we specialise in such projects and those which other researchers have not have been able to solve.

If you have received a letter or a phone call from YWA, then it may be in relation to a case we are researching and are therefore working to locate an individual's relatives. At the intitial stages we normally need to confirm certain details or to ask for information which may help to further our investigations*. YWA always bears the costs and risks of such research and, if we contact you in this way, we will never ask you for payment relating to the investigation. If you are a potential beneficiary and if you decide to appoint us to prepare a claim on your behalf, then we will outline the process to you, keep you informed of progress and will be on hand to answer your queries.

Services for solicitors, trustees and administrators

YWA has a high success rate and proven track record in identifying next-of-kin and locating missing heirs. We deal mainly with cases which have associations with Wales and we have been able to solve some very difficult cases which others have not been able to complete.

We specialise in identifying and locating heirs named in wills as well as in tracing the beneficiaries of intestate estates. We can also carry out family tree checks and provide you with a certificate tracing service. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and our pricing structure.

Living relatives research

Over the years YWA has been proud to re-unite clients with long-lost relatives. Whether you want to search for relatives in the UK  or to contact descendants of family members who moved to the US, Australia, New Zealand or elsewhere, YWA has the expertise, know-how and a proven track record of delivering great results and of uniting family members from all over the world.

As each project is different, please contact YWA with your requirements and we can discuss the aims and scope of the project at your initial free consultation (by e-mail, phone or in person).

What our clients say...

This has been the most exciting four months of my ancestry search in which you have used your immense skills and ingenuity to unearth the story of my cousins from the time I lost contact with them in 1943 right up to today with every chapter in between. It has been a revelation the way you have left no stone unturned. Every time your name has appeared in my email inbox, I have been excited and always delighted with new facts you have found.

Finally, last month, you put the last piece in my cousin search jigsaw and I will be meeting my surviving cousin very soon. It is you I have to thank profusely for this – words cannot describe my gratitude.
