Your Welsh Ancestors' chief researcher is Eilir Ann Daniels, BA (Hons). Eilir's degree from the University of Wales involved studying how industrialisation affected different aspects of UK and Welsh society from the eighteenth century onwards and allowed her to develop her keen interest in social history.
This interest was built on her passion for genealogy, which she started to study in her early teens. She gradually moved on from studying her own family history to helping others to research their past and, as a result, has almost thirty years experience of researching in various archives around Wales, including the National Library in Aberystwyth. She is an expert in all aspects of Welsh family history research and has also studied the histories of families that have their roots in various areas of the UK and Europe.
After graduating, Eilir worked as an editor and information & publications officer, initially in the voluntary sector. As a fluent Welsh speaker, Eilir has the added advantage of not only being able to research historical documents written in Welsh but can also produce reports in Welsh if requested.
Eilir forms part of the Pharos Tutors team and teaches its online Welsh genealogy courses. She has helped radio and TV companies with genealogical research and has regularly appeared on BBC Radio Cymru's Iola Wyn programme, answering listeners' questions and giving advice on Welsh family history research.
